By now you’ve probably figured out that I am a married lady. The domain name change may have been the first clue. That said, apologies for being radio silent the last few months. Since I last blogged, I planned a wedding in four months and was still able to keep my sanity (I think). Once I have some time to fully recover, I’ll write more about our big day including my strategy, vendors, tips, and tricks. Google Sheets were my best friend.

In the meantime, I thought I’d recap my bachelorette weekend from early August. Lake Lemon is one of my favorite places, so it only made sense to have my last hurrah at the lake. Having six of my best friends together in one place meant the world to me. There’s nothing better than seeing your friends meet for the first time and instantly hit it off. The weekend consisted of boat rides, cannonballs at the swimming hole, late night dance parties, and some of my favorite meals. I laughed so hard it hurt.

I don’t like to spend unnecessary money and I really don’t like for others to have to spend money because of me. The weekend at the lake was pretty much free with the exception of a few supplies. Our group kept a Google Sheet (surprise) to keep track of who brought what and we never had to worry about meals.

My now mother-in-law made a double batch of her famous cowboy caviar (aka Pam’s crack) and we snacked on that all day. Friday night was a make-your-own-taco bar, Saturday brunch was brioche with mascarpone and an egg casserole, lunch was chicken salad and croissants, dinner was a pork roast, mozzarella tomato skewers, chips and guacamole, corn on the cob, and roasted potatoes. Sunday was blueberry bread and all the leftovers. Also, a lot of Libby cookies.

My maid of honors brought the props (blow up flamingo drink floaties and bride tribe cups) and I bought a giant ring float from Amazon for $30. The weekend was laidback, relaxed, and full of memories. I can’t imagine going anywhere else and I’d highly recommend a lake bachelorette – there are plenty of Airbnb options too.

Just think how differently the movie Bridesmaids would have been had they listened to Annie and gone to the lake house instead of Vegas…

Helen: I just got your email. Um…lake house?
Annie: Yeah…um. Well, it’s you know, it’s Lillian’s parents’ house. We used to go there all the time, in the summers and everything. It’s wonderful.
Helen: A bachelorette in a cabin?
Annie: Oh, wait! Can you…can you hold…hold that thought? Hold on.
Helen: Hello?
Annie: Fucking Helen!
