Word on the street is that BeautyCounter’s Black Friday sale starts tomorrow (11/16), so I’ve compiled my eight favorite products for you. If I were a good consultant, I’d tell you to buy everything (and I’m not stopping you), but I’m lazy when it comes to my skincare. These are the products that are worth the money and that I personally love.
I never thought I’d be the type of person to sell something. There’s always a joke about that kid you went to high school with who is now involved in a pyramid scheme and they won’t stop messaging you on Facebook about how you too can become rich in five easy steps. Well, BeautyCounter is different. I really believe in their mission to remove over 1,800 chemicals from skincare products and to hold the beauty industry to a higher standard.
There are three simple reasons for my new side hustle:
1. I know nothing about make-up. I wear lipstick and blush a few times a year, even less now with COVID. But, BC’s Flawless in Five is so intuitive that even I can do it. The make-up looks natural and I still feel like myself.
2. I was in a serious car accident four years ago and after eight rows of stitches on my face and more than a year of only using Aquaphor, I realized it only made sense to use safer products on my skin.
3. My daughter Lucy. It took more than a year to get pregnant and once I did, I had a miscarriage. Knowing that the products that I use are safe made me feel less anxious when we tried to conceive again. All of BC’s products are safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, so you never have to worry about Googling every ingredient. I used to spend way too much time searching the EWG database in my search for cleaner products.
Here are my favorites products, in no particular order.

*Flawless in Five: This is a great way to overhaul your makeup routine with a few products at a great price. I love their lipsticks, blush, and glosses. I’ve never used a brow pencil, but the brow gel is no-fail and it adds a little something to your brows, especially if they’re on the thinner side. I have all of the blush colors, but guava is my go-to for the colder months and passionfruit / melon for summer. My favorite lipstick and gloss colors are the peony and dahlia. I’ve worn the peony to almost every wedding and date night over the past few years because it goes with everything.
*Charcoal Facial Mask: This is a cult favorite for a reason. If you need a little pick-me-up, you’ve had a rough day, or you can feel a pimple coming, this is for you. Trust me. I did not like the charcoal bar soap, so just go with the mask.
*Facial Brightening Oil: This stuff feels like you went to a spa. It was my nightly self-care treat when I was pregnant and it smells so good.
*Sunscreen: Google left side vs. right side trucker and you’ll understand why sun damage is not good. I wear sunscreen everyday, even in the winter months.
*Make-up Remover Wipes: Like I said, I rarely wear make-up, but I keep these in my car to use after a work-out. You’ll feel like a new woman. They’re thick and they smell good.
*Adaptive Moisture Lotion: This was the first product I ever bought and I still love it. I put this on after I wash my face and neck before I go to bed.
*Cleansing Balm: I think they’ve changed the packaging since I last bought it, but I sleep in this stuff once or twice a week. You can leave it on your face overnight and gently wash it off in the morning. It’s expensive, but the same tub has lasted two years.
*Hand Cream in Citrus Mimosa: I would have never bought this for myself, but someone gave it to me as a gift and I love the smell. It has been so nice to have since my hands are always dry from over-washing. I’ll warn you that our dogs like the smell too – they can’t get enough of me when I use it.
